Farm to Table Venue Report :: Miners Foundry | Nevada City, CA

Are you looking for a special wedding venue in Nevada City or Grass Valley, CA? Look no further than Miners Foundry in beautiful downtown, historic Nevada City, nestled in the Sierra Foothills Gold Country of Northern California, just an hour from both Lake Tahoe and Sacramento.  Nevada City is a known for the Nevada City Film Festival, SYRCL's Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival, the majestic South Yuba River, pine tree covered mountains dotted with blue water lakes, miles of mountain biking and hiking trails, and its charming downtown area; now it is also being recognized as a leading destination wedding location.

Welcome to our very first blog post!  Because it is the height of wedding season, and weddings are on our mind, we have decided to feature one of our favorite Nevada City wedding venues here, for our first blog post!  *We are not getting paid for this post.  All opinions are my own and based on my personal experiences working at this venue.  - Jennifer Trujillo, Farm to Table Catering

We love working at Miners Foundry for so many reasons!  Obviously, it is a beautiful, historic building right in the heart of charming downtown Nevada City.  With the Stone Hall's exposed beams, high ceilings, awesome textured grey stone walls, vintage windows lining the three walls, huge metal metal door, and working fire place, it is hard to beat this space for your vintage, romantic, rustic, or boho-inspired wedding.  But there is so much more to this awesome venue!

Most newly-engaged couples don't think about the "other" things that can make (or break) an enjoyable experience at their wedding venue.  Besides being a beautiful space, Miners Foundry makes it easy to have a stress-free and successful event, as they offer: a commercial kitchen for the use of caterers on the day of the event (one of the only venues in the area that has this!); an on-site house manager who is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful and is available for the entire event to answer questions and help with anything venue-related during the event (we love this!!); a wonderful, organized, and a helpful event manager in the office to help with anything prior to the event.

And then there are the multitude of seemingly simple things that many people don't think of (but many venues lack) that make an event run so much more smoothly: clean, potable drinking water from sinks in the bathrooms and kitchen (seems like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised how many venues lack sinks!); large refrigerators to keep food cool and to chill wine before the event; a large ice machine (very rare for a venue!); dependable electricity and lighting (I can't tell you how many venues we have worked at that don't have the electric capabilities to use coffee percolators.  Blown fuses are a sure-fire way to cause a disruption during the reception); plenty of parking; clean bathrooms; a commercial dishwasher to run glasses through when they begin to run out at the end of the night; a mop, broom, and dustpan easily accessible; and finally, trash receptacles and dumpsters (many venues require the client or caterer to bring their own trash cans and remove all trash at the end of the night.  This is no fun for anyone!).

When you are looking for your perfect wedding venue in the Sierra Foothills, be sure to check out this special place.  Farm to Table Catering is lucky to be able to work at the Foundry often, and we love it every time!
